Floating Witch's Head release single "Movin' On"

Floating Witch’s head is a garage-psych power trio. Fans of Dead Moon, Black Lips, Guided By Voices, Osees, The Kinks, MJ Lenderman and The Schizophonics will find the craftsmanship, grit and songwriting of Floating Witch’s Head easy to love. This 3-piece from THE Boise, Idaho, wield overdriven guitars and organs with synth bass lines driven by the beats of a drummer that is an absolute force.

At the heart of Floating Witch's Head is the songwriting of Travis Ward—also the frontman of the nearly 20-years active Hillfolk Noir. While Hillfolk Noir is very much a folk oriented affair, Floating Witch’s Head is a sweaty, gritty, tube-driven, garage-y milieu. Joined by Eric Gilbert on organs/synths and Michael Mitchell on drums, this is a band dedicated to the artistry of music and all the little things in a song that make it great.

Ward’s open guitar tunings and overdriven amps lend themselves to a very heavy, psychedelic blues-oriented guitar. Gilbert on keys provides organ leads and soundscapes while providing perfectly punchy round bass lines through his Moog synth. Then there’s Mitchell on the drums whose taste on the kit balances driving rhythms with laid back beats in all the right moments.

While each are incredible musicians in their own right (not to be missed live), Gilbert also doubles as the Festival Director for the venerable Treefort Music Fest, while Ward is founder of Hermit Music Festival. Each has dedicated themselves to not only their own craft, but also in supporting the craft of others.

Floating Witch’s Head can be found commonly touring the Northwest across Washington, Oregon and Idaho and is coming off a recent appearance at Freakout Fest in Seattle in addition to their upcoming not-to-be missed set at Treefort Music Fest 2024.

“Movin’ On” is the second single off of the Boise-based compilation, “Untold Stories” and the first single from their soon to be announced full length debut.
